Newcastle’s Tim Krul didn’t do a very good job of winning back the heart’s of the Geordie fans in his side’s game with Tottenham Hotspur today. The Dutch keeper was too hesitant when it came to dealing with Christian Eriksen’s free-kick, with the result being the ball ending up in the back of the net.
Newcastle fans reacted angrily to the images of Tim Krul congratulating Jermain Defoe after the striker scored a wonder goal against his side two weekends ago. Defoe’s volley from 25 yards had left Tim Krul with no chance – and is arguably the goal of the season – but Magpie fans clearly left that their goalkeeper shouldn’t seem so pleased to be beaten.

Newcastle will take hope from the fact that their substitutes have contributed a league-high nine goals this season. However, The Magpies have lost their last five games, and if they lose this match it will match their worst ever Premier League run of defeats.
No, you can’t let Krul off the hook for that. There are players around him, but that’s a chocolate-wristed attempt to keep the ball out.
