According to reports by Football.London, Chelsea are ready to sell midfielder Marco van Ginkel for £10m this summer, and Newcastle United must look to take advantage of any potential deal.

What's the word, then?

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez looks on

Well, Football.London says that the Blues are ready to cash in on the Dutchman following his impressive loan spell with Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven, despite only handing him a new contract at the start of last year.

The west London outfit brought the then 20-year-old in an £8m deal from Vitesse Arnhem in 2013, but he has made just four appearances in all competitions for them, spending the rest of the time out on loan at AC Milan, Stoke City and now PSV.

Meanwhile, Newcastle could be in for a busy summer transfer window as Rafa Benitez looks to add some quality to his squad in order to ensure they move up the Premier League standings next term.

How has Van Ginkel done this season?

He has been outstanding.

Despite often playing in a central midfield role, the 25-year-old has scored a remarkable 16 goals and provided a further five assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for PSV, who are the Dutch top flight champions.

The Netherlands international has shown the huge impact he can make in the final third with his goal tally, but the 6ft 1in midfielder also uses his height to his advantage too after winning 87 of the 157 aerial duels he has faced in the Eredivisie during the current campaign, as per WhoScored.com.

Would he be a good signing for Newcastle?

He certainly would be.

The 25-year-old has grown as a player since a relatively unsuccessful loan spell with Stoke City in the Premier League previously, and he now looks to be ready to make an impact at this level again.

His price tag is certainly well within the Magpies' budget, and the Dutchman could be a great long-term replacement for Mo Diame, whose amazing statistic has wowed Toon fans on Twitter, in the middle of the park alongside Jonjo Shelvey.

In addition to that, he is also able to play further forward in Ayoze Perez's attacking midfield position.
