Newcastle have not aborted the mission to sign £18m Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, according to talkSPORT.
Despite the French international having reservations about moving clubs so close to Euro 2016, news outlet Buzz Sport claim the Magpies have not yet given up hope.
The 24-year snubbed the chance to move to St. James’ Park last week, though reports suggest those behind the scenes at the North East giants are confident that extended talks with the player may change his mind.
They have been busy in transfer market already this month, signing midfielders Henri Saivet and Jonjo Shelvey from Bordeaux and Swansea respectively.
The former is believed to have cost around £4.5m, while England international Shelvey is thought to have set the Toon back £12m.
A forward remains the priority for boss Steve McClaren, who has watched side score just 22 times in their opening 22 Premier League games and find themselves in the bottom three.
