According to Sporx, Newcastle are one of a number of Premier League teams keeping tabs on Galatasaray star Papa Alioune Ndiaye.

What's the Story?

Reports in Turkey are suggesting that Newcastle are set to battle Tottenham, West Ham and Leicester for the signing of Senegalese international Papa Ndiaye. The 26-year-old only made the move from Osmanlispor to Galatasaray in the summer, but is already proving himself to be one of the best midfielders in the Superlig.

Valued at £6.3million by Transfermarkt, Premier League scouts were watching at the weekend as Ndiaye's Galatasaray lost to Trabzonspor.

How good has Ndiaye been this season?

For a player who was a relative unknown until last season, Ndiaye has quickly established himself as one of the best players in Turkey. The midfielder has played 10 games for Galatasaray so far this season and while he does not have any goals or assists to his name, it is his phenomenal defensive work that has earned him plaudits.

Ndiaye has bags of stamina and loves a tackle, which is an advantage in the bullish Turkish league. It is no surprise that Galatasaray have raced out into a strong lead domestically and they do not llok like slowing down soon.

Would N'Diaye be a good signing for Newcastle?

It seems that Ndiaye would be a perfect fit for any Premier League club wishing to add some bite to its midfield. Some of his play is reminiscent of the late Chiekh Tiote; with plenty of energy, skill and desire in both offensive and defensive phases of play.
