AC Milan forward M’Baye Niang says he has no interest in leaving the Serie A side this summer, reports talkSPORT.
But Niang has ruled out a move to St James’ Park, stating his desire to fight for a place at the San Siro.
“I’m happy at Milan and I want to stay. I know what I can give to the team and I don’t fear the competition for places,” he said.
“I can play as a striker, on the left or right, I’ll play wherever the coach needs me. I know that I have the qualities to make an impact with this club.”
Niang failed to score from 20 Serie A appearances last season, in his first year since leaving France. But despite having to compete with Mario Balotelli, Stephan El Shaarawy, Giampaolo Pazzini and Robinho, Niang is intent on fighting for a starting role with Milan.
Newcastle are looking to boost their strike options this summer and find someone to partner Papiss Cisse – bringing in QPR forward Loic Remy on a season-long loan.
Is missing out on Niang a blow to Geordie fans? Could the club still secure a deal?
