Newcastle Transfer Roundup: Two on striker shortlist, Bruce on radar, Toon looking at Laxalt

Monday’s Newcastle transfer roundup explained a rejected approach for a former Premier League legend, an expected bid for a 21-year-old midfielder and interest in a young goalkeeper. Today’s edition consists of an update in regards to the striker situation at the Toon, a former Sunderland manager considered for the Newcastle hot seat and the pursuit of an Uruguayan international.

Two on striker shortlist

The Shields Gazette is reporting that Newcastle have a shortlist of two strikers to replace the outgoing Ayoze Perez. The Spaniard signed for Leicester City last week, and the recruitment team is looking at forwards both in England and on the continent. As of yet, the names have not been shared.

Bruce considered for manager’s position

According to Sky Sports, Steve Bruce is being considered for the top job at St. James Park. The 58-year-old former Manchester United player is currently with Sheffield Wednesday. Newcastle are keen to replace Rafa Benitez before the team heads out to China for the Asia Cup.

Laxalt wanted by Newcastle

Diego Laxalt will leave AC Milan this summer, and Newcastle are one of three clubs interested in the 26-year-old according to Calcio Mercato. The Rossoneri want €15m (£13.5m) for the left-back, with Zenit St Petersburg and Torino also keeping tabs on the La Celeste man.
