Newcastle United’s summer transfer window could have been predicted before the market opened.
Much like this time last year, manager Rafael Benitez received broken promises from club owner Mike Ashley.
The former Liverpool boss has made it clear in the media that he has been largely left in the dark with regards to funds and transfer activity at St James’ Park.
With just two days left before the window slams shut, Newcastle have signed goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a permanent deal, Ki-Sung yueng on a free transfer, Kenedy from Chelsea on loan, Deportivo La Coruna defender Fabian Schar, Japanese international Yoshinori Muto and Salomon Rondon on loan from West Bromwich Albion.
As part of the deal that brought Rondon to the North-East outfit, Dwight Gayle moved to The Hawthorns on a temporary spell.
The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder reports that the forward wanted to stay at Newcastle and could return next summer.
Some Newcastle fans all had the same reaction on Twitter, suggesting that their beloved club will suffer relegation from the Premier League.
