Newcastle United have been linked to numerous names over the course of the summer transfer window, but done deals have been thin on the ground.
It seems that manager Rafael Benitez is keen to strengthen the left side of the field amid reports that he is targeting Manchester City youngster Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Freelance journalist Tim Nash – formerly of the Express & Star – reported on Monday that Newcastle are eyeing the 21-year-old, who is also being tracked by Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Zinchenko, 21, is still to decide his future, with Newcastle also in the hunt for the Ukraine international. He wanted to talk to City boss Pep Guardiola after training today before making a decision.

It is no big surprise that the young player, who can feature as a left wing-back or in central midfield, has not cemented a spot in Pep Guardiola’s City team.
The Premier League champions are filled with world-class talent, and as a result, Zinchenko was limited to 14 appearances in all competitions last season, and only eight of those were in the Premier League.

The Ukrainian may feel that now is the time to start making a name for himself, and he will surely get regular game time at either Newcastle or Wolves.
Even though not much has been seen of him in the top flight, some Newcastle fans are buzzing about the idea of the youngster moving to St James’ Park.
