Newcastle United’s decision to bring Joelinton to the club has been incredibly underwhelming thus far and his struggle has prompted suggestions that the club could move for a new striker this month.
The club-record signing has scored just one goal in 21 league games and failed to repay Steve Bruce’s unwavering faith in his ability.
Part of the issue is that there is a distinct lack of quality alternatives to ease the burden on the Brazilian.
According to the Telegraph, however, that could be all set to change in January.
The Magpies are interested in signing Chelsea outcast Olivier Giroud but they have been told the Frenchman will not leave Stamford Bridge until they have sourced a replacement.
In response to emerging reports, Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder asked fans on Twitter if they’d like to see the Premier League veteran join the club, and the response was overwhelmingly in his favour, while other fans across the social media platform urged the club to conclude a deal.
no brainer 🧠

Interestingly, one supporter drew parallels between Giroud and Loic Remy, suggesting the loan deal could have a similar effect to the one which saw Remy bag 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances during the 2013/14 season.
Another Remy type loan to save our season. 🙏🏽

These fans, meanwhile, were eager to advocate a move for Giroud but also brought a classic sense of Newcastle realism to the table.
After years of disappointment under Mike Ashley, you can see why plenty of fans see this is as an unrealistic pipe dream.
In a heart beat..!!! But…. It WONT happen…. 😔

Obviously yes. But I’d also sign Messi and we’ve got as much chance of him coming.

Finally, this supporter went as far to suggest that the signing of the former Arsenal hitman would be enough to guarantee Newcastle’s safety.
1000% will practically guarantee us at least safety with a proven goal scorer leading the line
