Newcastle United weighing up return move

Chelsea striker Demba BaNewcastle are readying a shock move to take Demba Ba back to St James’ Park, according to reports from The Metro.

The Magpies only sold the Senegalese star to Chelsea in January, but it is believed that he could be on the move again already.

New boss Jose Mourinho has deemed Ba to be surplus to requirements, and even dropped him from his match day squad for Monday’s clash with Manchester United.

This has alerted Newcastle, who are keen to lure him back to the North East.

Reports suggest that contact has already been made between the two clubs, and that both are open to a deal.

Ba netted a staggering 29 goals in 54 games for the ‘Toon’ and, despite his departure, is still thought of highly by the club’s fans.

The powerful forward has only managed 65 minutes of action for the Blues so far this season, and looks set to have a tough fight on his hands to move ahead of Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku in the battle for a starting berth.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are also keen to resurrect a move for Lyon’s Befetimbi Gomis.

The Frenchman was believed to be close to agreeing a switch recently, but the deal collapsed as Loic Remy secure a loan move from QPR.
