Newcastle United have slapped a hefty £26.5m price tag on winger Moussa Sissoko, according to the Daily Express.
The French star had reportedly been attracting the interest of Serie A giants Napoli after emerging as a key player on Tyneside since his move in January 2013 from Toulouse.
There had been reports the club were set to test the resolve of the North East giants by tabling a £12m offer for the Les Blues international as they look to win their domestic league for the first time since 1990.
However, Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport, per the Daily Express, have claimed the Magpies are looking for over DOUBLE that amount if they are to even open negotiations.
Despite his good form for large parts of his Toon Army career, the marauding midfielder has failed to score in 28 appearances this season.
Competition for places within Steve McClaren’s engine room was intensified last week as the club sealed a double deal for England international Jonjo Shelvey, as well as Bordeaux ace Henri Saivet.
