Fabian Schar was excellent during Switzerland's UEFA Nations League third-place playoff against England on Sunday afternoon.

Schar could not prevent his side from suffering a spot-kick defeat to the Three Lions after 120 minutes of football finished goalless.

However, the 27-year-old really caught the eye against Gareth Southgate's side.

According to WhoScored, the Newcastle United centre-back won two tackles and one aerial duel, while he boasted a pass success rate of 80% to pick up an 8.0 rating.

Schar was also impressive for Newcastle last term - scoring four times in 24 Premier League appearances for Rafa Benitez's side.

The defender took to social media in the aftermath of Switzerland's loss to England in the inaugural UEFA Nations League.
