Injuries and international duty during the winter left Rafael Benitez with a sparsity of options in midfield, one of which was local boy Sean Longstaff.

The 21-year-old came on as a substitute in a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool and was then handed his full debut away against Chelsea, but it was his performance against Manchester City in a dramatic 2-1 win that really introduced him to the Premier League.

He covered every single blade of grass and managed to prise a penalty out of the typically reliable Fernandinho - after the game, Pep Guardiola reserved praise for both Longstaff and his midfield partner Isaac Hayden.

He scored his first Premier League goal against Burnley, but an injury sustained during a defeat against West Ham eventually cut his season short.

Longstaff's impressive debut campaign has seen him strongly linked with Manchester United this summer but The Magpie Channel, who can be seen in the video above filling out their Panini Tabloid, want Longstaff to stay at Newcastle for many years to come.

Check out their thoughts on Longstaff in full in the video above.
