Pardew fears Newcastle star is on his way out

Alan Pardew fears the possibility of signing Loic Remy is receding with every goal he scores, according to the Metro.

The France international returned from a three game ban to fire a dramatic last minute winner against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Remy’s strike was his 12th of the season, and Pardew is aware other clubs are watching his situation closely, with his loan from QPR set to expire at the end of the season.

Asked if every goal the Frenchman scores makes it more difficult for Pardew to sign him on a permanent basis, the Newcastle boss replied: “I think that’s fairly obvious.

“He is going to be hot property. He is going to get a lot of press tomorrow and I am going to leave him out of the next 11 [games].”

Remy’s late strike proved crucial yesterday, and Pardew was forced to deny his position would have been under threat had the Magpies failed to pick up all three points, following a wretched run of form.

“As a football manager, you are on 40 points – I think we have had a decent season. But the recent run put pressure on myself and the team, and my staff as well,” he added.

“I don’t feel comfortable when my staff are under pressure. You can be very resilient as a manager, but I was uncomfortable for my staff this week.

“I was desperate to get them a result, and it was for them that I really wanted to get a win, and obviously our fans, who have had to be very, very patient at home.”
