According to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio remain interested in signing Arsenal striker Lucas Perez, but Newcastle United should join the chase for the Spaniard.
It is no secret that the North-East outfit are in need of some extra firepower up front.
Last season, Dwight Gayle and Joselu failed to deliver, which has led to speculation that the club are on the hunt for new strikers.
West Bromwich Albion’s Salomon Rondon has been heavily linked with a switch to St James’ Park, but Rafael Benitez should turn his attention to Arsenal’s Perez.
Corriere dello Sport claim that Italian outfit Lazio are keeping tabs on the 29-year-old, who has struggled for first-team action at the Emirates.
In fact, since moving to the North London club from Deportivo La Coruna in 2016, Perez has made just 11 Premier League appearances, scoring only once.
When taking into account the forward’s record in the Premier League, then it may seem like a strange choice.
However, before moving to Arsenal, the Spaniard had success in front of goal having scored 32 times in 93 La Liga appearances.
Perez was never really given a chance at the Emirates, but if he moves to Newcastle then he will be determined to prove his ability.
At the moment it seems that the Magpies are struggling to get deals over the line, therefore a loan arrangement should not be ruled out.
