The Sunday Mirror, reported via HITC, recently claimed that Southampton, Wolves and Crystal Palace are all considering making a move to sign Leeds United’s Kemar Roofe in the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form in the Championship so far this season and has already racked up 7 goals from 10 appearances, firing Marcelo Bielsa’s side to the top of the table.
It is therefore unsurprising that the forward is currently the subject of Premier League interest. However, before any of the aforementioned top flight sides can add Roofe to their books, Newcastle United would be wise to enter the race and make a move for the English forward themselves.
A lack of goals has been a real problem for the Magpies this season and is a big part of why Rafa Benitez’s side currently find themselves in such trouble. At this stage, gambling on an in-form second tier striker would be worthwhile.
Plenty of Newcastle fans seem on board with bringing Roofe to St James’ Park, with 62% of those we polled in favour of pursuing his signature. See the full results below.
