Loads of Newcastle fans have been discussing their torrid start to the season, and a huge 87 per cent of fans want to move for Victor Wanyama, who could soon be surplus to requirements at Tottenham.

According to A Bola (via Sport Witness), Tottenham sent scouts to watch Porto’s recent win over Tondela.

Spurs are known to be long-term admirers of Porto’s Hector Herrera, and CM Jornal claimed recently that 28-year-old has rejected three separate contract offers from Porto.

Herrera’s contract runs out next summer, meaning Tottenham could grab him for a bargain in January or agree a pre-contract with the player to sign for free at the end of the season.

Either way, if Herrera arrives and Harry Winks continues his recent progress, Wanyama could soon find himself fighting just to get a spot on the bench in North London.

Newcastle meanwhile have yet to pick up a win this season, and they are crying out for a proper defensive midfielder that would allow Jonjo Shelvey the freedom to roam forward and use his creativity.

87 per cent of the Toon Army voted for a move for Wanyama, and you can view the full poll results down below…
