With the January transfer window now in full swing, plenty of Premier League clubs will be looking to offload some deadwood. In the case of Newcastle United, this process takes on another layer of urgency when it is considered that Rafa Benitez will likely only have to spend whatever funds he can raise through sales.

The Magpies need to strengthen this January and must add some more quality depth to their ranks, so figuring out who is expendable and getting them out of St James’ Park in the most lucrative manner possible is key.

One figure who could fit the bill is midfielder Isaac Hayden. There is certainly interest in the 23-year-old, as the Express and Star have recently reported that West Brom have had a bid for his services rejected by Newcastle.

One thing is certain, if Hayden is allowed to leave then he must be replaced, as Benitez cannot afford to have his midfield ranks thinned. However, as long as a replacement can be brought to the club, Newcastle should not hesitate to cash in on the former England under-21 international this month.

Plenty of the Toon faithful appear to agree that Hayden should be let go. Of those who took part in our poll, 92% voted in favour of selling the midfielder this month. See the full results below.
