Rafa Benitez has done one of the jobs of the season to guide Newcastle United into the top half of the Premier League without much in the way of serious investment into their promotion-winning side.
There certainly wasn’t much in terms of spending on firepower; Benitez has propelled his side up the division largely on organisation and desire alone.
That has only served to intensify the high regard he is held in in the North East but yet there were still reports in the Daily Mail ahead of the final game of the season – where Newcastle thrashed Chelsea 3-0 – that Benitez could walk away this summer after a wrangle over who controls transfer dealings.
That led us to ask you whether the Newcastle board should loosen their control on dealings behind the scenes in order to appease Benitez.
