According to results from our recent poll, the majority of Newcastle fans would disapprove of a swoop for Kasimpasa striker Mbaye Diagne – the Senegalese has been on fire this season, however his phenomenal strike rate is seemingly not enough to convince the Toon Army.

With the backing from club owner Mike Ashley likely to remain minimal, if not non-existent, the Tyneside outfit will be forced to do some shrewd business in the market and Diagne could be considered just that.
The 6-foot-3 hitman’s Transfermarkt valuation of £4.5m, coupled with his excellent goals-to-game ratio, might make him seem the perfect signing but our take was that he would be the wrong partner for Salomon Rondon – the Venezuelan is of a far too similar mould.
