Revealed: Majority of Newcastle United fans would love Badelj on a free

Newcastle United have been heavily linked with wingers and strikers in this summer window, but now a target from left-field has entered the fray.

According to The Mirror, Croatia international Milan Badelj is on Rafael Benitez’s radar after he became a free agent.

The defensive midfielder, who reached the final of the World Cup in Russia, has come to the end of his contract at Fiorentina, where he has spent the last four years.

Due to the lack of funds available to Benitez at the moment, a free transfer seems like an ideal option.

It is not an area of the pitch that the Magpies desperately need to strengthen, but if Badelj seems receptive to a move, it is worth considering.

In fact, when we asked you if the North-East outfit should make a move for the midfielder, who has won five domestic trophies in his career so far, the overwhelming response was a positive one.
