Salomon Rondon had a fantastic time at St. James' Park with Newcastle.

In 33 games for the club, he scored 12 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions, leading the line well for Rafa Benitez's side as the Magpies kept themselves comfortably in the Premier League. However, despite impressing, he ended leaving last summer to make the move to Dalian Yifang in the Chinese Super League.

Who the heck is that?! Can you name all 25 of these obscure Newcastle signings...

Given the opportunity, though, he would have liked to have stayed at Newcastle. At least, that is what he has told The Athletic in an exclusive interview. He said: "If Newcastle had offered me a deal, if they’d said ‘Do you want to stay here?’, then of course I would have stayed."

"If Newcastle made me the offer, I’d definitely come back!"

This has got a lot of the club's supporters talking, and it seems many would take him back in a heartbeat.

The Venezuela international did a great job for the Magpies - no wonder many would like to see him return, especially considering Joelinton has just one goal in 26 league matches.

Others, though, have questioned the wages he is on as a potential block for him coming back.

It has been said that Rondon is earning £250,000 a week in China. Bearing in mind he took home £70,000 every seven days whilst at Newcastle, that is in a different stratosphere.

One fan, meanwhile, doesn't want him back as he doesn't believe he cares enough about the Toon.

That may be true, but then again, you can't blame him when that amount of cash is put on the table.

Meanwhile, Newcastle fans react to their link with this 24-year-old.
