According to Eurosport journalist Manu Lonjon, Newcastle United are in talks with Galatasaray over a potential move for Ryan Babel this month.

The 33-year-old, who has scored five times in 20 appearances for Galatasaray this season, has a contract in Turkey until the summer of 2022.

However, according to Lonjon, the Magpies have opened talks over a possible swoop for the experienced attacker before the end of the transfer window.

As expected, a host of Newcastle fans have been commenting on the speculation, and a number are simply not interested in a deal.

That is not an opinion shared by everyone, though, as some supporters would seemingly be open to the idea of the Dutchman arriving at St James' Park.

Babel has turned out for both Liverpool and Fulham in the Premier League, scoring five times for the latter during the 2018/19 campaign before leaving Craven Cottage to join Galatasaray.

Babel has actually played more than 500 professional matches at club level during a long career, whilst he has also been capped on 63 occasions by the Netherlands, contributing 10 goals in the process.

Meanwhile, Lee Ryder has provided an update on another reported target for Steve Bruce's side during this month's transfer window.
