Gary Neville’s appointment as England coach is as shrewd a move as Roy Hodgson could have made and the Sky co-commentator’s arrival on the scene will bring some much needed experience and expertise within the England camp. There are few players in English football that command the same level of respect as the former United captain and his clear no-nonsense approach should be welcomed in a Three Lions dressing room that is full of egos and big personalities. Neville has been it, seen it, and having played in five international tournaments has done it and no England player can ever question him, given what he has achieved in the game.

With the coaching team now in place, the next move for Hodgson is to pick an England squad that has the ability to do the country proud in the up and coming Euros. All eyes will be on Wembley HQ on Wednesday lunchtime to see who the chosen ones are. There are bound to be one or two ringers included, that will undoubtedly raise a few eyebrows.

In my latest list I thought it would be apt to look at who I consider to be the Worst England XI of all time and those players who certainly didn’t do their country proud. Hopefully Hodgson’s selection will prove a damn sight better, but only time will tell.
