Newcastle have struggled up front throughout this campaign.

In the Premier League, they have managed a paltry 24 goals in 26 Premier League matches despite being 13th in the table. Joelinton, the club's record signing who joined last summer, has epitomised that lack of goal threat - in 26 matches, including 25 starts, he has somehow managed just one strike.

Who the heck is that?! Can you name all 25 of these obscure Newcastle signings...

The Toon tried to rectify their goalscoring woes in the January transfer window, but Olivier Giroud turned down the opportunity to move to the North East. They will have to manage until the end of the season, but a new striker will be paramount for next season if the Brazilian continues his terrible form.

They are already looking at potential targets, it appears.

According to Turkish outlet Fotospor, the Magpies will send scouts to watch Alexander Sorloth, who is currently on loan at Trabzonspor from Crystal Palace.

This had got the club's supporters talking, and many aren't happy with rumour. One fan clearly isn't happy having a player who failed at Palace being linked with his side.

In 20 matches for the Eagles, he managed just one goal and one assist. It just didn't seem to work out for him at Selhurst Park.

Some fans have questioned the scouting of the club if this is a player they are targeting.

It is fair enough questioning the club's scouting policy. It hasn't been up to much in recent times, it seems.

One fan would rather see a former Premier League striker sign up instead.

At his best, Peter Crouch was a handful - he has over 100 Premier League goals to his name, after all. However, at 39 years of age, he may be a little over the hill for Steve Bruce.

Another supporter, meanwhile, believes Bruce is preparing for a drop to the second tier.

Sorloth is probably a bit better than that. This season, he has 22 goals in 33 games for the Super Lig outfit - maybe he isn't that bad after all.

And another supporter believes he must surely be a better option than Joelinton.

The stats from this term indicate he might be right.

Meanwhile, Newcastle fans discuss this Chronicle article on one player who is struggling this term.
