Newcastle have had a good season so far in terms of results. They are currently 12th in the Premier League table, and have also reached the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time since 2006. However, that has come at a price - high-quality attacking football.

A football legend: Can you get over 80% on this Gazza quiz? Find out now...

So far this term under Steve Bruce, the Magpies have averaged just 39.4% possession, and have only had 9.9 shots on target per match in the top tier - that places them last and 19th compared to the rest of the other sides in the division respectively.

In fact, not only is that the worse average possession in the Premier League, but also in the top-five leagues in Europe. Twitter user @NUFC_Banter shared this on their page, as you can see below.

This has got the club's supporters reacting in their droves.

It truly is an astonishing stat - you get the feeling the supporters don't know whether to laugh or cry.

A couple of fans meanwhile, have taken this as an opportunity to praise Steve Bruce.

You get the feeling these responses may be a little bit sarcastic!

In all fairness, they had just 42.9% possession last season, which was the 19th-worst in the Premier League, so having a Champions League-winning boss clearly didn't change too much.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are interested in this forward with 13 goals in 22 games this season.
