Newcastle United have yet to make a signing in the transfer window and the supporters are understandably restless. The Magpies have been flawed in their pursuit of both Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and most recently Bafetimbi Gomis and they are in desperate need of a tonic to lift the spirits of the supporters.
There are already some of those that are resigned to defeat that they will have to witness Alan Pardew cower out from a corner on September 3rd with the squad still desperately thin once again comically insisting the club could not get the players over the line and that Shola Ameobi’s performances are akin to that of a new signing.
This transfer window though Pardew appears to have a get out of jail free card in the form of Joe Kinnear, with it being Newcastle’s new director of football’s sole responsibility to control player acquisitions.
Kinnear will certainly be looking to find strikers with star quality and the ability to deal with the burden of expectation of 52,000 supporters every home game. He has already targeted the Champions League and if this is to be a realistic aim then he should definitely considering signing one or two strikers from this list.
