Newcastle are in need of new additions and according to Football Insider they have targeted Le Havre striker Tino Kadewere as a possible recruit.

What’s the word?

The Magpies could look to do business this month after Steve Bruce said the club would look to make the right steps in recruitment, though stated that he opposes bringing in bodies just because of the injury crisis.

Kadewere has had a brilliant season in Ligue 2 thus far and that has led to interest from the likes of Lyon, Aston Villa, and Tottenham.

The former has submitted a £12m for the striker as per Football Insider, though it is reported that the second division side is looking for £15m.

Le Havre are thought to be willing to let him go in order to make a profit on the £3m outlay they spent on him, and that means the door could be open for Newcastle to make a move.

Calculated risk

Newcastle have struggled for goals up-front this season and their woes have only got worse in recent weeks - with Dwight Gayle the latest to pick up an injury against Wolves.

Bruce’s injury list is into double figures and though they sit six points above the drop zone, new faces could be key if they are to ease their relegation fears.

Kadewere has performed superbly this season with 17 goals in 19 games for his club side, though the fact he is playing in Ligue 2 may create doubt in Bruce’s mind.

However, Matteo Guendouzi has made the same step up from that division and excelled in the Premier League, and since Kadewere knows where the goal is there is a good likelihood he will also succeed.

The 24-year-old will be dependent on service from his teammates but at £15m he would be less of a financial gamble than £40m Joelinton.

He would also solve the issue of the injuries to Gayle and Yoshinori Muto by providing Bruce with another valuable option up-front.

In other transfer news, speculation linking Ryan Babel to the club has sparked an interesting discussion amongst the fanbase.
