Following on from my piece on England’s top 10 wasted talents, here is the other side of the coin – the players whose talents, were, shall we say, overused. International football, whereas once upon a time it was considered the pinnacle of the game, nowadays, it simply affords more opportunities to players of limited ability. Favouritism has long since dogged the English national team; managers have their favourites and as such, it’s much easier to accumulate caps by simply hanging around as the same squads are trotted out time and again.
