Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend has quashed rumours linking him with a move to Newcastle United this summer, according to Sky Sports.

What's the story?

The 26-year-old came through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur before he joined Newcastle in 2016.

He only played for the club for six months before they were relegated to the Championship but impressed during his short spell at St James' Park, scoring four goals in 13 games.

Townsend was linked with a move back to Newcastle earlier this summer but the winger has now spoken out and rubbished the gossip, declaring that his future lies at Selhurst Park and he wants to see out his current contract there.

Time to move on

Crystal Palace would have demanded a substantial fee for Townsend and with the signing of Kenedy from Chelsea, Newcastle have a strong outlet down the left wing already.

Benitez has given his targets to Mike Ashley and it's now up to the owner to make sure he delivers them by Thursday to ensure the manager has the squad he needs.
