Tottenham target considering Newcastle exit

Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul is considering calling time on his Magpies career amid interest from Tottenham, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Dutch stopper has been one of the Tynesiders’ top performers over the course of the past few seasons and has established himself as one of the very best number ones in the Premier League.

His performances have been attracting admiring glances from a host of clubs, with Spurs rumoured to be eyeing him ahead of Hugo Lloris’ potential summer exit.

The Frenchman is said to be looking to leave White Hart Lane in search of Champions League football, which will leave the Lilywhites without a long-term option with Brad Friedel now at the very end of his career.

A source close to Krul says that the ‘keeper’s career is now at somewhat of a crossroads and that he knows of interest in him:

“Tim enjoys playing for Newcastle but at the same time, he wants to win trophies and play at the highest level.

“He has some important decisions to make about his future and knows if he did leave, there would be no shortage of clubs wanting to sign him.”

Krul is also wanted by AC Milan and Barcelona and is believed to be valued at around £10m.
