According to The Mirror, Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez has hinted at a possible exit in the summer transfer window, following his first hat-trick for the club last Saturday.

What's the word, then?

Speaking after the match, the 25-year-old admitted that there would be some offers at the end of the season and that he would be listening to them, but refused to admit whether or not he would definitely be leaving St. James' Park.

The original report also suggests that a number of clubs in Perez's homeland of Spain are interested in bringing the player back to his homeland.

The agile and versatile forward joined the Magpies from CD Tenerife in July 2014 and has been a real hit on Tyneside, scoring 46 goals in 192 appearances and moving into the list of the club's top ten scorers of the Premier League era, but may seek a move back to the continent to take his career to the next level.

His goals are worth their weight in gold, Newcastle you know what you need to do

There can be little denying that Perez's goals are worth their weight in gold in the north east and Newcastle know what they need to do - everything in their power to retain him.

The 5 ft 10 centre-forward is not the kind of player that always gets appreciated, games can go by without him scoring where it looks like he is contributing very little to the team.

But Perez is one of those players who is too risky to leave out for he can always pop up with a key goal and when in-form, is one of the trickiest strikers to deal with in the Premier League, which is why the Toon Army love him so much.

Take this campaign - his hat-trick in the win over Southampton at the weekend secured safety for Rafa Benitez's men. Seven of United's last 11 goals have been netted by Perez in the run that's led to them coming out the other side of a second consecutive relegation battle.

Take away these strikes and Newcastle are still very much in the thick of things - it's scary to think where they could be without the Spaniard's goals this term and in the grander scheme of things. This is why they really need to keep him.
