As the number of weeks start dwindling in the Premier League, the relegation picture is starting to become a little clearer.
It’s no doubt Villa are doomed, and looks like we now have a three horse race in Newcastle, Sunderland and Norwich for the final two relegation places.. Palace halted their poor run of form with a 1-0 win over the Canaries, their first Premier League win in 2016.
The crucial win for the Eagles puts them six points clear of Norwich, who are fourth from the bottom, and ten clear of Sunderland in 18th.
Fortunately for the Canaries, they didn’t lose any ground on their relegation rivals, as Newcastle and Sunderland failed to pick up any points as well. It’s a pretty tight race down in the dreaded drop zone and it should make for some interesting football.
Norwich are four points clear of Sunderland, and Newcastle are only two points behind the Black Cats.
While Norwich have a somewhat safe lead, looking at their upcoming fixtures, that could change. Next week they host Sunderland in a match with serious relegation implications. After that, the Alex Neil’s men will face Man United, Arsenal, Watford and Everton to wrap up the season.
Sunderland face a difficult road ahead as well, as they still have Norwich, Arsenal, a tough away trip to Stoke, Chelsea, Everton and Watford. Newcastle have to play Swansea, Man City, Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Spurs.
It’ll be difficult for each of the three teams in relegation territory to pick up points so we could be in for a tight race until the end. So, we ask, who do you think will be relegated? Have your say below.
Vote up for the team you think will stay up and down for the two teams headed for Championship football next season…
