Pompey rules out Davids swoop

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart has moved quickly to deny reports linking him with a swoop for the former Netherlands international Edgar Davids.

Hart has also reiterated that he is not interested in bringing Amr Zaki, who had a spell on loan with Wigan Athletic last season, to Fratton Park and has also ruled out a swoop for Algerian striker Raffik Djebbour.

Leicester City have held talks with Davids, who is currently without a club since leaving Ajax almost 18 months ago, but Pompey were also believed to be keen to secure the 36-year-old’s services.

However, when asked about the rumours, Hart said:“Edgar Davids? No, it isn’t true.

“I’ve never heard of Raffik Djebbour and there’s no interest in Zaki. There never has been – and there never will be.”
