Porto star open to Chelsea or Manchester United move

Porto defender Nicolas Otamandi is keen to leave Porto this week after seeing a proposed move to Valencia collapse, with a Premier League switch possible according to reports from The Express.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all been linked with the highly-rated centre-back, who has developed into one of European football’s most sought after stars.

The Argentine was set to move to the La Liga side for the remainder of the season with a view to a permanent deal over the summer, but the arrangement fell through after negotiations stalled.

This has left the door ajar for the English trio.

Chelsea have been most heavily linked with Otamendi, after some reports previously suggested that a deal for later this year was being discussed between Porto and the Blues.

Jose Mourinho is known to be keen to land a new centre-back after failing to be convinced by David Luiz, and could opt for the more defensively adept South American.

United have also been aligned with the 25-year-old, amid suggestions that they are looking for long-term successors to Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

City are another side in the race, but it remains unclear as to whether or not Manuel Pellegrini prefers Otamendi’s team-mate, Eliaquim Mangala.
