Premier League clubs eye Croatian ace

Gordon Schildenfeld, Dynamo MoscowA number of Premier League clubs are keen on Croatian defender Gordon Schildenfeld, according to reports from Sky Sports.

The Dynamo Moscow centre-back is believed to be close to leaving the Russian giants, after falling down the pecking order at the club.

He spent last season on loan with Greek side PAOK, and although the move wasn’t made permanent, he is hopeful of sealing a summer transfer.

His status has alerted a number of clubs from across Europe, with some Premier League and Championship names among them.

Schildenfeld’s agent, Darryl Powell, has revealed that interest in his client is high, and that English clubs have made approaches.

“I am talking to a number of English clubs about Gordon,” Powell said.

“Gordon is keen to play in England and he would be a great signing for someone as he is a top quality central defender with a wealth of experience.”

Schildenfeld is a regular in his national side, and featured in all three of their matches during EURO 2012.

The 28-year-old is renowned for his physical abilities, and at 6ft 3” he should have no trouble coping with the rigours of the English game.

Schildenfeld has represented clubs from his homeland, Turkey, Germany, Austria and Russia during his career.

Would Gordon Schildenfeld be a good signing for a Premier League side?
