The 25-year old Englishman is not short of admirers after his breakthrough debut season inthe Premier League – as well as reported interest from Newcastle in the player, high-flying Southampton are also believed to be tracking the £10million-rated marksman as boss Ronald Koeman looks to bolster his attacking options in preparation for next season.
QPR director of football Les Ferdinand admitted earlier this season that the Hoops face a battle to keep hold of Austin beyond the current campaign.
The hitman has been in imperious form for an otherwise struggling QPR side this season, netting 17 goals in the top flight. The Rs are currently 18th in the Premier League, two points behind Hull City in 17th having played a game more.
