Arsenal start every season at the top of the Premier League pile… FIFA fans will know this from the ‘Kick Off’ section of the video game, while Gunners fans will be aware of it too as it’s the only time they ever top the pile nowadays… (Zing!)
However, with Bournemouth having all but sealed promotion – a 19 goal swing between themselves and Middlesbrough is needed on the final day – to the top tier, it will be they who take the honour… why? Because F comes before R in the alphabet! The South Coast outfit go by their full name of AFC Bournemouth officially, which will plop them ahead of the London club for the summer, making them England’s top dogs.
Okay, it counts for little when a ball is actually kicked, and the Cherries will most likely be battling at the other end of the division despite their attractive attacking style, but every little victory counts!
Sorry, Arsene… looks like you’ll have to do it the old fashioned way.
FACT: After 100 years, Arsenal will NOT start top of the PL next season now that AFC Bournemouth have been promoted. pic.twitter.com/GowpUtmH5t
