Slow start to proceedings at the Emirates tonight, with AS Monaco clearly content to defend deep and in turn invite Arsenal to pressure. However, as of yet, the Gunners are yet to take up the invitation and the whole game and style of play feels ‘heavy’ and devoid of ideas.
Not what us neutrals were expecting, with much of the pre-match build-up debate surrounding just how many goals Arsenal would fire past a Monaco side that includes four players younger than 21 in its starting XI.
With Arsenal struggling in the final third, the only real talking point from the opening half an hour or so came from a penalty shout from Arsenal’s record signing Mesut Ozil.
The World Cup winner was sent through via a wonderful pass from summer signing Alexis Sanchez and as the midfielder went to bring the ball down in the box, there was a suggestion that the Monaco defender in pursuit used his arm to take the ball away from Mesut.
What do you reckon?
