Real Madrid could offer Memphis Depay an escape route from his Old Trafford nightmare by making a move for the Dutchman, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The former PSV man only arrived in the North West earlier this summer, initially drawing comparisons to Red Devils legend and current Los Blancos megastar Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, the £25m move has not worked out as hoped just yet, as the Holland international has struggled to get to grips with the Premier League thus far and recently lost his place in the side.
Reports suggest that the La Liga juggernauts believe they can get the best out of the 21-year old, and are preparing to offer him a lifeline.
The Red Devils are said to want £64m for last season’s Eredivisie top scorer, having only agreed a four-year deal with him three months ago.
Despite some early promise with two goals over Club Brugge in a Champions League qualifier, Depay has only netted once in the league so far and has seen Anthony Martial preferred to him on the left.
Assistant manager Ryan Giggs is thought to have blasted the player over his flashy lifestyle, and the woes were compounded when the £25m man missed the team bus ahead of last night’s game with CSKA Moscow.
Madrid themselves could be set to lose a superstar left winger, with club record goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo heavily linked with a move to PSG.
