It has been an emotional week or so for Liverpool’s captain and their fan base, with Steven Gerrard confirming that his ‘Roy of the Rovers’ time with the Premier League club will be ending at the end of this current campaign.
The midfielder didn’t help soften the blow, either, with a well-taken, and important, brace for the club against AFC Wimbledon last night in the FA Cup 3rd Round – which has set up a clash with Bolton Wanderers in the next round.
Gerrard continues to divide opinion – a real Marmite player – with some fans respecting his loyalty to Liverpool and continued high level of performances, whilst others continue to troll the Englishman for his failure to win a Premier League title plus a certain slip at Anfield.
It appears Twitter has opted for the latter, with the hashtag #ThingsLiverpoolCouldReplaceGerrardWith doing the rounds on the social media site.
