Revealed: Southampton fans vote James Ward-Prowse MOTM vs Tottenham

Despite a point seeing them slump into the relegation zone after Stoke City’s win over Huddersfield on Saturday, Southampton will take plenty of positives from their draw with Tottenham in yesterday’s 4pm kickoff.

The home side managed to stave off what is usually a relentless Tottenham attack and by the final whistle, they’d arguably created the better chances with debutant Michael Obafemi being a toe’s length away from grabbing a last-minute winner.

It was an impressive collective performance from Mauricio Pellegrino’s side but some individuals inevitably stood out, so we asked Southampton fans to issue each of the 14 players to feature against Tottenham a rating out of ten.

And it appears Saints supporters were most impressed with 5 foot 8 midfielder James Ward-Prowse, who had an impressive impact in various aspects of the match – finishing up with two tackles, two interceptions, two accurate crosses, two shots, one created chance and one successful dribble to his name.

He received an average score of 8.1 from Saints fans, but certain team-mates – particularly striker Manolo Gabbiadini and centre-back Jack Stephens – didn’t receive such rave reviews. Who do you think was Saints’ best player against Tottenham? Let us know by commenting below…
