Brendan Rodgers inevitably left Liverpool last weekend, as the club said goodbye to their manager of three years.
Rodgers, who almost delivered the Premier League to the club, had been under pressure for several weeks as performances failed to reflect the ambitions of the club moving forward.
Rodgers famously was in charge of the side that almost won the Premier League in 2013, although a Steven Gerrard slip against Chelsea handed the title to Manchester City.
Reports understand that Rodgers was informed of his departure just an hour after the full-time whistle after the Merseyside derby on Sunday. His final game finished with a 1-1 draw.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez is under fire for his defensive outlook on games.
Benitez, who took over at the club this summer, saw his side draw 1-1 away at rivals Atletico Madrid at the weekend despite being in the lead for most of the game.
