The 23-year-old Fiorentina forward is one of Europe’s most sought after players and is being pursued by several Premier League teams, including Arsenal, who are believed to be leading the race for the forward.
But Savic, whose underwhelming spell at the Etihad ended last summer, urged his friend to move to City instead.
“Jovetic is one of my closest friends and I would recommend City for him,” Savic said.
Adding that City is “one of the best clubs in Europe [and] will win trophies and be in the Champions League every year.”
Savic never saw regular playing time with the Citizens, and was part of a swap deal with Fiorentina for Matija Nastasic.
However, Savic does not regret the decision to leave, saying: “It was hard for me there, because I came straight from the Serbian league. I won a league title but knew I had to play regularly to improve, so I left. It was my decision.”
Despite his own unsuccessful trip to City, Savic is confident the story would be different would £20million-rated Jovetic, claiming that the forward “could play straight away with Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez.”
