Barely a day passes without some sort of incident at Manchester United these days and the latest emerging story from Old Trafford suggests a rift is emerging between on of the Red Devils’ players and manager Jose Mourinho.
21-year-old full-back Luke Shaw has been left baffled by criticism from the Portuguese boss, who questioned the youngster’s fitness following the 3-1 victory against Swansea City on Sunday.
The defender has suffered a minor injury in the same leg that he sustained a horrific double leg-break last season and has been fighting to return to 100% fitness this season- but Mourinho spared no punches with his comments.
“To compete you have to go to the limit. It is cultural for some – and that is not my culture. More than me, it is Man United. We have players with ‘problems.'”
“At every sport – and I know because I have friends in other sports and they play at the highest level in their sport – and how many times they play when they are not 100 per cent.”
Mourinho is no stranger to controversy when criticising members of his squad but given the sequence of events that led to his sacking from Chelsea last year, you would expect the out-of-form boss to have learned his lesson.
