Sheffield United signed Jack O’Connell from Brentford for an undisclosed fee just over two years ago, and he has quickly established himself as one of the club’s best players.
While the 24-year-old arrived at Bramall Lane having signed a three-year deal with the Yorkshire giants, that was extended until 2022 in November of last year which left the Blades in a strong position when Premier League clubs sniffed around the centre-back during the summer.
The Daily Mail reported last month that Brighton and Hove Albion had lodged a bid worth £8m for the defender prior to the transfer window slamming shut on August 9, but Chris Wilder understandably didn’t want to lose the key player he brought to the club in 2016.

O’Connell remained with the Championship club and has played every minute of their nine league fixtures so far this term, also finding the net in the 4-1 win against Aston Villa at Bramall Lane at the beginning of this month.
Given his strong defensive performances, his age and the fact that decent centre-backs seem to be harder to find in the current day, we believe that O’Connell is worth at least more than £15m in the modern-day transfer climate.
