One of our own: Sheffield United fans heap praise on Wilder following EFL accolade

Sheffield United have been one of the surprise packages in the Championship this season, maintaining an impressive level of consistency which has given them a real chance of a return to the Premier League.

It’s been an excellent campaign for the club so far and it’s been recognised by manager Chris Wilder receiving the Manager of the Year award for the Championship by the EFL.

Blades fans took to Twitter to hail their manager in response, as one individual claimed he needed a ten-year contract for his efforts this season. Another said he was their favourite manager the club has ever had.

A host of fans took the opportunity to laud him as one of their own whilst one tweet claimed the 51-year-old was a genius and had given the club’s identity back.

Wilder’s side currently sit in second place in the Championship, four points off top position and a point ahead of Leeds in third. They’re also on a run of ten games without suffering defeat.

The Blades boss had two spells with the club in his playing days and was then given the chance to manage the club in 2016.

Here’s how Sheffield United fans shared their adulation.
