There was a lot of excitement when Sheffield United won the race to land Liverpool and Wales starlet Ben Woodburn on loan during the summer transfer window, but it’s fair to say that his time at Bramall Lane hasn’t got off to the best of starts.
Both the Merseyside club and the 18-year-old would surely have expected him to get regular minutes for the Championship club this term, but while he may already have eight caps for his country he has played just 234 minutes in all competitions for the Yorkshire side during the current campaign.

Finding himself on the fringes is certainly a surprise in some ways given the talent he clearly has, but it is also a learning curve for him that manager Chris Wilder obviously doesn’t feel that he can make the required impact needed from the start of matches.
We decided to ask Blades fans to vote on our poll to see whether they thought that Woodburn should be starting regularly – suggesting that Wilder hasn’t treated him completely fairly in the opening weeks of the season – and a majority 62% believe he should be more of a regular fixture in the side.
Sheffield United face a tough-looking trip to the capital to face Millwall on Saturday following their 3-2 win against Preston North End at Bramall Lane last weekend, and while the supporters clearly feel that the youngster should be starting, he may well have to wait for his opportunity a little longer.
