John Lundstram has been out of the side at Sheffield United since Sander Berge arrived for £22m.
However, he sent the perfect message to Chris Wilder by coming off the bench on Sunday to score the winner for his side with six minutes left of normal time.
His celebration was telling as he pointed to his chest after wheeling away in delight.
The 25-year-old took to Instagram afterwards to comment on the victory and post an image of him after finding the back of the net.
As can be seen in the comments section, a certain Ross Barkley responded to the message.
The Chelsea midfielder sent a three-word letter of support to Sheffield United’s number 7, someone who was a previous teammate of Barkley.
The duo played for Everton at the same time when they were coming through the ranks and even travelled in together. They also played for England U19s during the same period.
The pair are incredibly good mates, even being snapped sitting next to each other on a plane when they were with the Toffees.
It looked like for a period of time their careers would go in opposite directions after Lundstram joined League Two Oxford. However, they’re now both enjoying spells at the top end of the Premier League.
