Sheffield United fans are fuming as they believe a refereeing decision cost them the game against Millwall on Saturday.
The Blades’ 0-0 draw with Millwall has left them three points off the pace in the race for automatic promotion after Leeds beat their cross-city rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
United fans have taken issue with one of the referee’s decisions late in the game which they believe cost them all three points.
A sliding challenge on David McGoldrick in the closing minutes was deemed a fair tackle whilst many Blades believe that a free-kick should have been given which would have allowed them to run down the clock.
Millwall instead scored just moments later to level the game – United fans are fuming as this decision could cost Chris Wilder’s side a place in the Premier League come the end of the season.
Some fans on Twitter have blasted the referee and others were left baffled by the decision to not give a free kick.
Here’s what Sheffield United fans have been saying on Twitter…
Fans of Norwich, Sheffield United and Ipswich name their club’s worst ever manager in the video below…
Noticed he let 2 similar 50/50 incidents go in 10 min spell prior to this tackle. Not even a second glance and just ran off every time. His mindset was let’s keep game flowing and don’t let United slow game down. Therefore wasn’t concentrating on incident and missed it. Useless

Standard of referees in this country, not just Championship is abysmal. Clear foul with less than a minute on the clock. He gives that we win the game. That could’ve ended our automatic promotion hopes.

@mx_hdsn this was the foul in the build up that eventually led to turn over in possession and ultimately their goal, foul wasn’t given ??♂️

Think ref felt bad for them after Egan had stopped a certain goal. After that incident he may as well have had a millwall shirt on. Didn’t do too bad up to that point but an absolute embarrassment for the following 10 mins
